POTTERY WHEEL STUDIO- BEGINNER

Learn and practice all the skills necessary to make pots from start to finish. We will cover the basics of glazing and firing to finish your pieces. Small class size allows for plenty of one-on-one interaction and you will be amazed at how quickly you progress! Bring an apron and small hand towel. All supplies are included. Space is limited to 4 students.

Now that you can center clay and make cylinders and bowls with ease, you will move on to more complex forms like covered jars, mugs with handles and bottles. Learn about the firing process and how to finish your pots with various surface treatments. Work at your own pace and receive one-on-one instruction as needed. A weekly demo will introduce new and exciting techniques. Bring an old hand towel and apron or wear clothes that can get messy. Space is limited to four students per class. Prior wheel experience is required. A materials fee of $25 will be due to the instructor at the first class of the session.

A unique opportunity for kids ages 10 and up to spend a full week at the pottery wheel learning, practicing and mastering all the skills necessary to create fantastic and functional pieces of pottery. Class size is limited to 4 so students will always have a wheel to work on and will receive plenty of individualized instruction. Bring an old hand towel and/or apron and be sure to wear clothes that can get messy. All finished pieces will be fired and ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after camp. Students are welcome to take more than one session and continue to build on their acquired skills. All materials are included. All participants under 18 years of age must have Art Center participation forms filled out and brought to the first class.
PLASTER SCULPTURE CAMP
AGES 10 AND UP
10 AM - 12 PM
Campers will explore plaster as a sculpting and casting medium. Projects will include making an armature for an animal sculpture, sand casting, moldmaking and faux frescos. Plaster is messy so participants should wear old clothes! All materials are included. All participants under 18 years of age must have Art Center participation forms filled out and brought to the first class.

MONDAY JUNE 29- WEDNESDAY JULY 1

In this pal and me camp for preschoolers, spend precious time together bringing storybook characters to life. We will use fun and colorful picture books as our inspiration to create by squishing, squeezing, pinching, rolling and painting clay. Creations will be fired and ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after camp is done. Clay characters can be used afterwards for playing and re-telling the stories, or to inspire imaginations to create new ones. All materials included. Cost is for one pair (child and caregiver).

SUMMER CLAY CAMP FOR AGES 7-10

Campers will explore natural materials during the creating and decorating process of making projects from clay. Students are invited to bring a collection of materials they would like to use including but not limited to: pine cones, fossils, shells, stones, leaves and flowers, small sticks, bones. etc. They will learn and utilize several methods of construction and some unconventional ways to explore surface decoration. All projects will be fired and ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after camp is finished. All materials are included. All participants under 18 years of age must have Art Center participation forms filled out and brought to the first class.
SUMMER CLAY CAMP FOR AGES 10 AND UP
MONDAY JULY 27- FRIDAY JULY 31
1 PM - 3 PM
Like a clay staycation- we will take a virtual trip to visit ancient cultures and different countries around the world and study how they utilized clay as art and cultural objects. Using this theme as a departure point, we will spend a fun week creating amazing, worldly projects from clay using techniques and subject matters inspired from our newly acquired knowledge. All projects will be fired and ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after camp is finished. All materials are included. All participants under 18 years of age must have Art Center participation forms filled out and brought to the first class.
