Service Description

6 classes: Mondays 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, skip a week for drying and first firing, final class for glazing on 7/28. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate makeups, but will work with you to provide any missed instruction. This class is designed to allow the student to hone creative throwing techniques associated with the production of functional tableware. Each student will produce 5 separate items (or multiples of items) that match in design and color, resulting in a coherent "set". Each week the student will be given a choice of one of two items to create per class period. Items to be explored are (but not limited to) sugar bowl, creamer, gravy boat, pitcher, drinking glasses, mugs, goblets, plates, bowls, ramekins, oil bottle, candlesticks and butter dish. Students should have their own tools- pin tool, soft rib, wood knofe, scoring tool, small sponge and miscellaneous forming tools. While at the studio, students will have access to other specialty tools and forms. Please bring your own hand towel (aprons optional). Fingernails should be kept short. We are located on the third floor of a historic building in downtown Newark. Unfortunately we are not handicap accessible.
