Service Description

Total of 6 classes: Wednesdays- 2/25, 3/4, 3/11, 1/18, SKIP 3/25, 4/1, AND FINAL CLASS ON 4/8. Please note that this is different from our usual class schedules as we will be out of town on 3/25 for the annual ceramic conference). Advanced Beginner and up - students have completed INTRO TO POTTERY WHEEL and at least one Beginner six week pottery class or have similar experience. We will continue working on improving and advancing throwing skills, as well as advanced techniques in surface decoration and glazing. This session we will embrace spring. In addition to vase forms, we will make planters and a wheel thrown garden tile (which we will decorate in the cuerda seca technique). Our class for week 5 will be dedicated to decorating surfaces with underglazes, silkscreens and water etching. Students are invited to submit drawings that we will use to have a sheet of custom silkscreens made. Drawings will need to be turned in by the second class. Cost of the silkscreen will be divided up between participating students. (it cost $35 plus tax/shipping for full sheet which we will divide up with everyone's designs). Each student is required to have their own tools. Tool kits will be available for purchase (18.00). Bring a hand towel. Aprons are a good idea, but optional. Fingernails must be cut short. Materials fee includes 25#clay, dip glazes and firings. Please read our policies. By registering for a class, you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to our policies and procedures. We cannot accommodate makeup classes. We are located on the third floor and there is no elevator. We apologize to anyone who is unable to take classes due to the stairs.
