Service Description

RAKU FIRING (only includes firing, not the class/studio time to make pieces) Raku firing will take place on Saturday 11/4 12-end of firing at an off site location. Rain date will be Sunday 11/5. There is no makeup for the firing, so please make sure you are available for both firing dates! This option is for students with prior experience with raku and alternative firing. Registration includes 8# of raku clay and bisque firing, as well as raku firing. If you are enrolled in other classes at MCW, you can use your raku clay during those classes to make your pieces if it fits into your class/project time. You may also use the wheels during open studio times (to be announced). If you are not currently in classes, you can handbuild or throw at home and bring in pieces for bisque firing. You must have pieces turned in for bisque firing by 10/17 (no exceptions! They don't have to be completely dry yet). If you choose to naked raku, slip will be provided. If you are glazing your raku pieces, you will have access to raku glazes/ you can attend glazing class on Tuesday Oct. 31.. Bring your glazed pieces to the firing. If you are pit firing, bring your bisqued pieces wrapped in foil and other materials to the firing. All participants should plan on being at the firing for the duration- it takes a lot of hands to run a successful raku event! Please read our studio policies and procedures. By registering for a class you acknowledge that you have read and agree to our procedures/policies.

Cancellation Policy

Full refund or credit will be issued for any class cancelled by Markgraf Clayworks. If a student must cancel, they may do so for a full refund minus a $25 processing fee up to 7 days before the start date of the class. If a student cancels within 7 days of the start date of the class, they will receive a credit to be applied toward another class. Credit must be used within 6 months. Student will be responsible for any part of class fee greater than their credit due. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of class.
